The exam has 33 questions. Learn why the preparation set is described as 310 or 460 questions.
The real German naturalization test contains 33 questions: 30 general questions and 3 questions about your federal state.
The numbers 310 and 460 describe the preparation catalogue, not the number of questions on one exam paper.
33 questions in the exam
You answer 33 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. Each has four options and one correct answer. For naturalization, at least 17 answers must be correct.
310 questions for one learner
Every learner should prepare the 300 general questions plus the 10 questions for the federal state in which the exam is taken. That makes 310 relevant study questions.
460 questions in the complete catalogue
There are 16 federal states and each has 10 separate state questions. Across Germany that is 160 state questions. Adding the 300 general questions gives a complete catalogue of 460.
You do not need to study all 160 state questions. Select your state and learn its 10 questions.
