Quick explanation
Equal treatment means: nobody may be disadvantaged, for example, because of a disability.
Why is this correct?
Article 3 of the Basic Law prohibits discrimination on grounds including sex, origin, religion and disability.
Background
Since 1994, the Basic Law has stated explicitly: “No person shall be disfavoured because of disability.” The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) of 2006 also protects against discrimination at work and in everyday life – for example when looking for a flat or in a restaurant – on grounds of ethnic origin, sex, religion, disability, age or sexual identity. Anyone who is discriminated against can take action, for example with the help of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency, and claim compensation.
Why are the other answers wrong?
Personal reasons do not justify discrimination. On the contrary, anyone who has been discriminated against may take legal action. There is no legal obligation to donate money to disadvantaged groups every year.
Memory tip
Equal treatment = no discrimination because of characteristics such as disability.
