Background
Article 2 of the Basic Law protects every person’s right to the free development of their personality. This includes deciding for yourself whom you love, whom you live with and whom you marry. From the age of 18, parents no longer decide this. They may give their opinion and advice, but must not exert pressure. Anyone who forces someone into marriage through violence or threats commits a crime (forced marriage, Section 237 of the Criminal Code).
Why are the other answers wrong?
The parents may not bring their daughter back against her will – that could even be a crime such as coercion or false imprisonment. They cannot report her to the police, because she is doing nothing forbidden. And the parents may not choose a husband for their daughter.
