Quick explanation
Anne (13) and Tim (25) may not live together as a couple.
Why is this correct?
Anne is a child; sexual acts with children under 14 are strictly forbidden in Germany.
Background
Criminal law gives special protection to children under 14: sexual acts with them are always a criminal offence, even if the child seems to agree (Section 176 of the Criminal Code). A child cannot enter into a romantic relationship with an adult. Young people between 14 and 18 are also specially protected by law. Since 2017, people in Germany may generally only marry from the age of 18.
Why are the other answers wrong?
Hans and Marie are both adults. Tom and Klaus are a same-sex couple – that is allowed, and since 2017 they can also marry. Sofie and Lisa are adults too. An age difference between adults does not matter.
Memory tip
Adults may live together freely – children under 14 are protected.
