Quick explanation

It is discrimination if the person does not get the job only because he uses a wheelchair.

Why is this correct?

The General Equal Treatment Act prohibits discrimination at work on the basis of such characteristics.

Background

A wheelchair makes no difference to working as an accountant. The Basic Law states explicitly: “No person shall be disfavoured because of disability” (Article 3). People with severe disabilities have additional protection at work. Companies with at least 20 jobs must fill five percent of them with severely disabled people or pay a compensatory levy. Financial support is available for making a workplace accessible, for example from the integration office.

Why are the other answers wrong?

Lack of experience, salary expectations that are too high or missing English skills can be objective reasons not to hire someone. This applies equally to people with and without disabilities.

Memory tip

A disability is no reason to reject someone.
