Quick Controls

Mutter ist.
Independent study resource, not a BAMF website. Translations are study aids; the exam is in German.
Quick explanation
It is discrimination if the person does not get the job only because she is a mother.
Why is this correct?
The General Equal Treatment Act prohibits discrimination at work on the basis of such characteristics.
Background
Employers may not disadvantage applicants because of their sex – and this includes a woman being a mother or possibly becoming pregnant. Questions about pregnancy or family planning are generally not allowed in job interviews; a woman may even answer them untruthfully without fear of consequences. Anyone who is discriminated against can assert claims within two months, for example for compensation. The Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency offers advice.
Why are the other answers wrong?
Missing English skills, salary expectations that are too high or lack of work experience are objective reasons related to the job. They are not discrimination.
Memory tip
Objective reason (qualifications) = allowed. Being a mother = discrimination.
